

Jember, June 9-11, 2026 – The Indonesia Cement Association (ASPERSSI) successfully held the Technical Workshop 2026 on Operational Excellence and Energy Efficiency in the Indonesian Cement Industry in Jember, East Java. The event brought together ASPERSSI member companies, industry experts, and technology providers to exchange experiences, best practices, and the latest innovations in operational excellence, energy efficiency, digitalization, alternative fuels, and decarbonization.
The workshop was conducted amid various challenges facing Indonesia’s cement industry, including overcapacity, increasing market competition, rising energy costs, and growing decarbonization requirements. In this context, collaborative forums such as this workshop play an increasingly important role in strengthening the competitiveness and sustainability of the national cement industry.
In addition to the technical sessions, participants had the opportunity to engage with the Jember Regency Government. During his welcoming remarks, the Regent of Jember introduced the region’s economic potential, industrial development, educational sector, cultural heritage, and tourism opportunities. ASPERSSI also shared its perspective on the strategic role of the cement industry in supporting municipal waste management through the utilization of Refuse-Derived Fuel (RDF), opening potential opportunities for future collaboration between the Jember Regency Government and PT Semen Imasco Asiatic.
As the host company, PT Semen Imasco Asiatic provided an excellent experience for all participants. The plant visit, which formed part of the workshop program, showcased strong operational discipline, outstanding housekeeping standards, and the company’s commitment to implementing a culture of operational excellence throughout its operations.
The workshop also featured distinguished speakers from both Indonesia and abroad who shared valuable insights on technological developments and global best practices in the cement industry. Topics covered included fuel flexibility, process digitalization, operational optimization, decarbonization strategies, and the application of the BEST Cement Tool for energy benchmarking and performance improvement.
Through this event, ASPERSSI once again highlighted the importance of knowledge sharing, collaboration, and benchmarking among member companies. The exchange of experiences and best practices throughout the workshop is expected to inspire industry stakeholders in addressing increasingly complex challenges while supporting the development of a more efficient, competitive, resilient, and sustainable cement industry in Indonesia.
